- Programs Remarks - TaLK is a Korean Government scholarship program known as Teach and Learn in Korea. The program’s main objective is to invite and train native English teachers and overseas Koreans to teach practical English in after-school classes at the rural elementary school. Accommodation is included.

- Programs Remarks - The unique curriculum of East Asian Studies allows students to gain an intellectually rich, historically informed, theoretically sophisticated, and materially grounded understanding of China, Japan, and Korea as spaces of dynamic formation and transformation, all the while developing proficiency in languages of the region. Graduate students may choose from a wide range of courses offered both by the Department and other departments in the Faculty of Arts, and in other faculties that encourage the development of strong intellectual connections with multiple disciplines.

- Programs Remarks - Students wishing to study at the Honours level in two disciplines can combine Joint Honours program components in any two Arts disciplines.

- Courses Remarks - Asian Language & Literature : This course provides a critical introduction to central themes in Korean culture, including Korean literature, religions, philosophy, and socio-economic formations.
- Korea-related Courses : EAST 385 Society and Community in Korea
- Courses Remarks - Asian Language & Literature : This course will analyze topics in colonial and contemporary Korean life with a focus on the social institutions of family, school and workplace.
- Korea-related Courses : ANTH 399 Archaeology of Japan and Korea
- Courses Remarks - Anthropology : Survey of Japanese and Korean archaeology from the Paleolithic through the Nara and Silla periods. A broad range of evidence (eg. Tombs, settlements, landscapes, architecture, artifacts, early texts) will be examined to explore the development and nature of social complexity in each region; interaction between regions, and with China.

Entering students are expected to have a background and/or degree in disciplines relating to East Asia, and have knowledge of an East Asian language. Graduates of our program are pursuing careers in academia, publishing, government service, the financial industry, media and communications, and other fields.
