This is a richly illustrated lecture on the quint-essential person in modern Korean history, namely, Dr. Syngman Rhee, the first president of the Republic of Korea (ROK) who presided over the country from 1948 to 1960. The lecturer first will provide a succinct biography of Syngman Rhee from 1875 to 1948 and then dwell on how he helped the ROK develop into a modern nation by discussing a series of ground-breaking achievements in the fields of politics, economics, military, diplomacy, and education.
