"태종이 대행 대왕에게 고조(高祖)가 되시므로 제사 때에 고할 적에 황고조(皇高祖)라 칭하였으나, 지금 세자에게는 5세(世)가 되는데, 옛글에서 상고하여도 준거할 칭호가 없습니다. 세자께서 아직 즉위하기 전이므로 무슨 조(祖)라 하지 않고 그저 조(祖)라고만 칭하지마는, 내일 즉위하신 뒤에는 장차 어떻게 칭하올지, 대신과 예조로 하여금 함께 칭호를 의논하게 하고, 또 홍문관으로 하여금 옛글을 널리 상고하게 하소서."

We have charged the ministers and the Ministry of Rites to agree on a title. In addition, we shall have the Office of Special Advisers extensively look over the old documents.”
