【詩】慇懃入室爲裝糧. 出戍良人宿舍傍.

　　夜半忽爲虓虎攫. 追奔手撲俾無傷.

　　大吼重來最可驚. 開門荷杖語丁寧.

　　縱然囓樹終無害. 始信毛蟲亦性靈.

Lady Kim was a person of Andong.


適散員兪天桂.

She was married to the military Yuch’ŏn’gye.


洪武辛巳.

On the Hongwu year of the metal snake (1401),


天桂當行戌.

The husband had to serve corvée duty,


謂其妻曰.

He told his wife and said:


今日吉.

'Today is auspicious


吾將出宿於外.

I will go out, sleep outside.'


其妻曰.

His wife said:


吾亦出宿矣.

‘I will also go out to sleep.’


遂入室裝糧.

Accordingly, she went to the house to prepare provisions.


夜半忽有人驚呼聲.

In the middle of the night, suddenly, some surprised people were screaming,


婢僕皆縮頸.

Servants and slaves they were cowering.


金挺身出.

Lady Kim confidently marched out.


虎已攫夫去.

A tiger had already snatched the husband and went away.


金把木弓.

Lady Kim grabbed a wooden bow,


呌呼而前.

右手撲虎.

There was a daring roar.


金又開門荷杖語虎曰.

She opened the door, holding a bat and she said to the tiger:


爾亦含靈之物.

‘Are you also a thing of spirit


何若是之甚乎.

How can you be so serious like this?’


虎齧舍傍梨樹而去.

The tiger gnawed on a tree at the side of the house and left.


樹乃枯.

The tree dried up right away
