昔者莊周夢為胡蝶，栩栩然胡蝶也，自喻適志與！不知周也。
Formerly, Zhuang Zhou had a dream of becoming a butterfly, a happily[1] fluttering butterfly talking to himself "This is what I want!" He did not know that it was he.
俄然覺，則蘧蘧然周也。
Suddenly he awoke, and then clearly realized<ref> 蘧蘧然 it was he.
不知周之夢為胡蝶與，胡蝶之夢為周與？
He did not know whether it was he dreaming of becoming a butterfly, or it was a butterfly dreaming of becoming he.
周與胡蝶，則必有分矣。此之謂物化。 《莊子.齊物論》
