【1885-03-01~1887.02-05】. 영국이 러시아의 조선 진출을 견제하기 위해 전라남도 여수와 제주도 사이에 위치한 섬 거문도를 불법 점령한 사건. 사건 해결 과정에서 중개 역할을 맡았던 청나라는 이후 조선의 내정에 대한 간섭을 강화하였다.
