+조선 제11대 국왕 중종의 제2계비인 문정왕후의 태릉-泰陵과 아들 제13대 국왕 명종과 그의 비 인순왕후 심씨의 강릉-康陵을 합쳐서 부르는 능호이다. 문정왕후는 중종의 정릉을 보우가 주지로 있던 봉은사 곁으로 천장하고 그 곁에 묻히여 했으나, 흉당이여서 뜻을 이루지 못했다. 명종이 능호를 신정릉(新靖陵)이라고 했다가 태릉-泰陵으로 고쳤다. 태릉-泰陵은 왕비의 단릉이라 믿기 힘들만큼 웅장한 능으로, 조성 당시 문정왕후의 세력이 얼마나 컸는지를 짐작케 한다. 강릉-康陵은 동원쌍봉릉으로 조성되어 있다.
