【】. 정의를 써넣음 <br/>
함경도 남부에 있는 지역으로 이성계의 탄생지이다. 1393년(태조 2) 이곳의 영흥진(永興鎭)이 태조의 외할아버지 최씨의 향(鄕)이라 하여 이 이름을 따서 화주에서 영흥부로 개칭하였다. 이곳에서 환조가 태조 이성계를 낳았으며, 소년시절의 이성계설화가 전한다. 순령면에는 조선 태조의 아버지인 이자춘(李子春)의 구저(舊邸)인 영흥본궁, 이성계(李成桂)의 출생을 기념하는 준원전(濬源殿) 등이 있다.
