==Definition==
조선시대에 인재 양성을 위하여 서울에 설치한 유교식 국립대학인 성균관에 입학한 유생들이 기숙하면서 공부하던 곳이다. 태조 7년(1398년)에 창건된 뒤 임진왜란으로 소실되었다가 선조 39년(1606년)에 중건하였다. 각각 정면 20칸에 측면 3칸으로 동쪽을 바라보고 있으며 서재와 마주보고 있다.

동재의 첫번째 방은 의료실 역할인 약방이고 다음 방들은 서재와 동일하게 순서대로 우제일방, 제일방, 장의방, 진사칸, 하일방, 하종방, 하재이다.
