자경전 현판

Definition

‘자경(慈慶)’은 ‘자친(慈親)이 복을 누린다’는 의미이다. ‘자(慈)’는 ‘자친, 곧 어머니’, ‘경(慶)’은 ‘복’을 가리킨다. 국왕의 어머니인 왕대비가 거처하는 곳이므로 이와 같이 이름 지었다.현판은 1888(고종 25)년, 사헌부 대사헌 등을 역임한 문신 성이호(成?鎬, 1817~1895년)가 썼다.
