함월지 표석

Definition

‘함월지(涵月池)’는 ‘달을 머금은 연못’이라는 뜻이다. 달이 이 돌 연못의 물 속에 비치는 모습을 형용한 것이다. 아미산이라는 공간과 연관시켜 보면 이백의 「아미산월가」에 나오는 “아미산에 떠 오른 가을 밤의 반달이여, 달 그림자 평강에 들고 강물은 흘러가네.”라는 구절을 응용한 듯하다.
