준명당 현판

Definition

‘준명(浚明)’은 ‘다스려 밝힌다’, 또는 ‘다스리는 이치가 맑고 밝다’는 뜻이다. ‘준(浚)’은 ‘다스린다’는 의미로 쓰였다.『서경(書經)』「고요모(皐陶謨)」 편을 보면, “날마다 세 가지 덕을 밝혀, 밤낮으로 소유한 집을 다스려 밝힌다."는 구절이 나온다. 여기서 ‘가(家)'은 대부가 다스리는 통치 영역을 이르는 말이다.

현판에 쓰인 ‘명’은 ‘明’과 같은 글자로, ‘日(날일)’ 대신 ‘目(눈목)’을 넣었다.
