Definition

의정부(議政府)는 조선시대 동반 경관직 정1품아문 관서로 모든 관리를 통솔하던 최고의 행정 관서이다. 소속 관직은 영의정(領議政), 좌의정(左議政), 우의정(右議政), 좌찬성(左贊成), 우찬성(右贊成), 좌참찬(左參贊), 우참찬(右參贊), 사인(舍人), 검상(檢詳), 공사관(公事官), 사록(司錄) 등이다. 관사의 위치는 한성부 북부 관광방(觀光坊)으로, 경복궁 광화문 남쪽의 왼편이었다. 의정과 찬성이 각각 청사를 가지고 있었고, 서남쪽에 행랑 수십 칸이 있었는데, 남쪽 행랑은 백관들이 서계(誓戒)를 받는 곳이었으며, 청사 북쪽에는 별도로 사인사(舍人司)가 위치하였다.
