Definition

흥례문에 딸린 서쪽 행각에 있는 문으로, 서쪽의 궐내각사(闕內各司)로 들어가는 입구다. 1867(고종 4)년, 경복궁을 중건할 때에 만들었다. 흥례문 일곽에서는 조회뿐만 아니라 국문이나 교서 반포 등이 이루어졌으므로, 궐내각사와 빈청의 관원들이 원활히 움직일 수 있는 문이 필요했는데 그 역할을 유화문이 한 것이다.[1] [2]
