Definition
부산광역시 동구 범일동에 있었던 일본 자본에 의해 설립된 한국 최초의 기계제 면 방적 회사. 일본 미쓰이[三井] 계열의 중외산업(주)과 우마꼬시[馬越恭平], 야마모토[山本條太郞] 등이 자본금 500만 원을 출자하여 지금의 자유 시장 일대 13만 2000㎡[4만여 평]에 세웠다. 조선방직은 근대 시설을 도입한 국내 최초의 방직 공장이자 최대 규모를 자랑했지만 열악한 노동 조건 때문에 노동 쟁의가 자주 발생하였다. [1] 1929년 경복궁에서 열린 조선박람회 개최 당시 기업 특설관을 운영하였다.
