시상식 정보

연극, 뮤지컬, 무용 등의 공연 대상으로 한 영국 최고 권위의 상으로 런던연극협회(Society of London Theatre)가 1976년부터 상을 수여하기 시작했다. 본래 웨스트엔드연극상협회 Society of West End Theatre Awards)로 알려져 있었으나 1984년 영국 유명 배우 로런스 올리비에(Laurence Kerr Olivier, 1907~1989)의 이름을 따서 명칭 변경되었다. 한 해 동안 런던에서 상연된 연극ㆍ뮤지컬ㆍ오페라ㆍ무용 등의 공연을 대상으로 가장 뛰어난 연기를 보인 배우와 뛰어난 작품에 주어진다. 무대 전문가와 관객으로 구성된 패널이 평가하며 그 결과로 수상작(자)을 선정한다.
