This stone Buddha statue is presumed to have been made in the 6th century during the Silla period (57 BCE – 935 CE). Originally, it was carved as a Buddha triad, but one of the attendant bodhisattvas is missing. The principal Buddha sits with his legs crossed. The head, shoulders, and the chest of the statue are highly damaged, but the statue displays a dignified and refined style. The pedestal is covered with his robe, and its bottom part is carved with a Buddha triad. The halo of light encircling the head and body is expressed in several layers of circular wave patterns. Ten transformation bodies of the Buddha are carved around the halo. The face of the attendant bodhisattva is severely damaged, but a smile is noticeable around the lips. The long hair, cylindrical figure, and folds on the robe are all representative characteristics of bodhisattva statues made in the early 6th century.
