|영문 = This is the tomb and stele of Song Sang-hyeon (1551-1592), a patriot who died fighting the Japanese during the Imjin War (1592-1598). Song passed the state service examination in 1576. After serving various important posts, he became the magistrate of Dongnae (part of present-day Busan) in 1591. In 1592, Dongnaeseong Fortress bore the brunt of the initial waves of the Japanese army when they invaded. As he died heroically at the last moment, Song wrote a death poem expressing that “the loyalty a subject must have to his king is greater than the filial piety a son has to his father.” For his martyrdom, King Gwanghaegun (r. 1608-1623) of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) awarded him the posthumous title of Chungnyeol, Lord of Blazing Loyalty. The Japanese general who defeated him praised his bravery and loyalty and allowed a respectful burial. He was first buried in Dongnae, the place of his death, but his body was moved to Cheongju in 1610. The stele, erected in 1659, is located on the left of the road to the tomb. The epitaph was composed by Song Si-yeol (1607-1689) and calligraphed by Song Jun-gil (1606-1673), both great Confucian scholars of the Joseon Dynasty. | |영문 = This is the tomb and stele of Song Sang-hyeon (1551-1592), a patriot who died fighting the Japanese during the Imjin War (1592-1598).
